Our Favourite Tech TV Shows

Technology is prevalent in every aspect of our lives, whether it’s at home, work or out and about.

The team at PCM have rounded up their favourite TV shows that heavily feature technology.

  • Person of Interest - Sarah

    • An AI surveillance ‘machine’ is built to enable to US Government to identify and prevent terrorist attacks. The programer secretly uses the machine to identify the victims and perpetrators of crime, and hires an ex-CIA assassin to help him stop the crimes. The ‘machine’ communicates by sending social security numbers to the programmer via payphones, and can identify him anywhere there is CCTV. Cue a battle between dark forces within the government, third party agents and the good guys, and you’ve got a really clever, entertaining, techy show with great character development and storylines running throughout!

  • Mr Robot - Pablo and Zaynah

    • Elliot Alderson is a computer programmer by day and a vigilante hacktivist by night. Recruited by the mysterious “Mr. Robot” Alderson, Elliot is tasked with bringing down corporate America even though he is paid by one of the corporations to protect their cyber security. With a 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s definitely one to binge watch!

  • Star Trek - Chetan

    • “My reason for liking this show is that all the technology shown in the early series is actually becoming reality (apart from warp speed!). Examples would be voice recognition and commands, 3D printers, video chat, mobile communicators (iPhone!!!) etc, etc.

  • Knight Rider - Chetan

    • Who doesn’t want a car that can talk! Maybe I can connect ‘Kit’ to my Apple Watch???

  • 6 Million Dollar man - Chetan

    • Six million dollars to have bionic implants to become Superhuman, sound like a plan!

  • Lost - Pablo

    • Forget about the ending, Dharma is like Tesla, SpaceX and Google all together.

  • Cricket Coverage- Hugh

    • Here’s a bit of a different entry from Hugh. He loves the predictive ball tracking technology used in the sports coverage.

  • Silent Witness - Hugh

    • The tech used in forensic investigation is mind blowing. How much is used in reality and how much is just for the TV drama I don’t know!

  • Grey’s Anatomy - Sarah

    • “Using 3D printers for artificial limbs way before they entered the mainstream. A ransomware cyber attack shutting down the hospital. Extremely realistic organs and operating scenes using technology. A medical program with a real love of technology.”

  • Click - Matt

    • BBC’s tech round up on the weekend - even more accessible to Matt now he has a young son and early mornings are more common!
